Purpose
Lead and oversee the Project Controls, Contract Management, and Asset Integrity functions to ensure the efficient execution of strategic projects and the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of the company’s industrial assets throughout their lifecycle.
This role establishes robust frameworks for project planning, cost and schedule control, contract administration, risk management, and asset integrity management, supporting operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and the protection of company assets and investments.
Responsibilities
Project Controls Leadership
- Lead the implementation and governance of Project Controls practices across strategic capital projects, including planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and risk management.
- Work with the functional Director of Project Controls to ensure consistency in project reporting, cost, risk and schedule management.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of integrated master schedules, cost forecasts, performance metrics, and variance analysis.
- Ensure project execution aligns with approved scope, schedule, and budget commitments.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, Operations, and Finance to provide clear visibility into project performance and emerging risks.
- Develop executive-level reporting to inform leadership on project status, key risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Promote the adoption of digital tools, data analytics, and best practices to enhance project performance monitoring.
Contract Management
- Lead the contract management strategy for major capital projects and operational service agreements.
- Oversee contract administration activities, including contract compliance, performance monitoring, and contractual risk management.
- Ensure proper management of contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, and payment structures.
- Coordinate closely with Procurement, Legal, Project Management, and Operations to ensure alignment between contractual terms and project execution.
- Lead the management of contract amendments, variations, claims, and dispute resolution processes.
- Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks that may impact project performance or operational continuity.
- Ensure contractual frameworks support cost control, schedule adherence, and accountability across contractors and service providers.
Asset Integrity Management
- Lead the development and implementation of the Asset Integrity Management System to ensure the reliability, safety, and long-term performance of critical infrastructure.
- Oversee programs related to inspection, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and asset performance management.
- Identify risks related to corrosion, material degradation, mechanical failures, and loss of containment, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Ensure compliance with applicable technical standards, safety requirements, and regulatory frameworks governing industrial assets.
- Support risk-based decision-making through asset condition assessments, integrity evaluations, and lifecycle management strategies.
- Integrate operational and technical data to optimize maintenance strategies, reliability performance, and capital investment planning.
Technical Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and best practices for Project Controls, Contract Management, and Asset Integrity.
- Provide feedback on corporate standards and procedures and support the regular review process.
- Promote the adoption of risk-based methodologies, reliability engineering, and condition-based maintenance approaches.
- Lead technical reviews, audits, and performance assessments to ensure operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities to optimize operational and capital expenditure through improved asset management and project delivery practices.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, operational safety, and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, project management, reliability, contract management, and maintenance functions.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, HSSE, Finance, and Project Development teams.
- Serve as a technical and commercial advisor to senior leadership on matters related to project performance, contract risk, and asset integrity.
- Support strategic planning for capital investments, infrastructure expansion, and operational readiness initiatives
Required qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in project controls, contract management, PMO, or related functions.
- Experience in project planning and control, including scheduling, cost management, forecasting, and risk management.
- Proven experience supervising teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience participating in procurement processes, contract administration, and contractual performance monitoring.
- Experience in the implementation of integrity systems, internal controls, or audit frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management or a related field.
- Master’s degree is preferred in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Contract review and contract management, including terms and conditions, scope of work, deliverables, penalties, change orders, and claims management.
- Knowledge of asset integrity, compliance standards, and regulatory frameworks applicable to industrial and energy infrastructure.
- Proficiency in project control methodologies and planning tools (e.g., scheduling systems, cost control frameworks, and performance monitoring).
- Knowledge of integrity, transparency, governance, and anti-corruption systems.
- Preparation of executive reports, financial analysis, CAPEX monitoring, and budget control.
- Risk assessment, control matrices, and implementation of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to integrate operational, technical, and financial information to support decision-making and project performance oversight.
